Our Review Approach
A useful review explains its limits
Our launch reviews are documentation-based assessments. They help readers choose what to investigate and what to verify. They are not a claim that WebDefenseLab ran a comparative laboratory test.
What we examine
- The job the product is designed to do and the protection it cannot provide.
- The operating systems, app variants, permissions, and plans involved.
- Official product documentation, privacy information, and current support guidance.
- Purchase conditions: total first charge, renewal, billing route, and cancellation.
- Practical checks a reader can perform safely in ordinary use.
How recommendations work
We make conditional recommendations based on a stated use case. “Consider this if you need these capabilities” is more useful than calling a product best for everyone. Shortlists are starting points and do not imply tested performance rankings.
Independent testing
When consulting a laboratory report, match the product edition, date, operating system, test sample, and measurement. Detection, false positives, performance, and usability are different dimensions. We do not convert a vendor’s marketing statement into our own score.
What is not measured here
We have not performed an original malware-detection campaign, a multi-network speed study, or a statistically controlled blocker comparison for this edition. Accordingly, there are no invented star ratings, customer aggregates, benchmark tables, or guaranteed outcomes.
A safe personal evaluation
Use normal browsing, calls, known files, and documented settings. Record the app version and configuration. Do not download live malware, bypass browser warnings, or weaken a managed device to test a consumer tool.
